I am no longer an organic chem major.

This was not my choice. The exit lab to make my major official was moved to Fall instead of Spring. Now, this was no problem and I made sure of that last June. However...

Something went wrong. All I'm willing to say is that there was a miscommunication and something went wrong. Nothing blew up but I've been kicked out of the lab.

I did everything I could. I even requested audience with the department chair, who's a real nice guy, but in the end...

The professor's ruling still stands. I am no longer an organic chem major. I am now a general chem major. I can still graduate using another exit lab: physical chem, inorganic chem, or computational chem. The department chair was nice enough to extend the invitation I needed in order to start my thesis so I could graduate with some pride and credibility.

In the end, my pride was hurt. Dreams were altered. But then, logic kicked in. Combined with my GRE scores (average in math, poetic in english) this is the better deal. It will get me in a better graduate program. It will give me more options for my graduate program. In the long run, the thesis will get me more places in schools, jobs, and life than the organic exit lab.

I'm still depressed though. Give me a few more days to rationalize and I'll feel better.
